Carvin'

Ohhh, that's scary Jack!

Momma and Mol

Let the carving begin! We had fun with this yesterday, as predicted I did most of the cleaning out of the 'ol pumpkins and such, but the boys did stick with it for longer than I would have thought!

Molly had fun with the carving too from her bouncie seat :)

From left to right - Molly, Daddy, Mikie, Mommy, and Jack
it should be noted, both boys wanted "angry" pumpkins :)

Hands in the Mush

Just sitting here in the quiet house and thought I'd say hello. Erk just left for work, Molly is back in bed now and the boys are still sleeping. Molly has continued to do well with sleeping in the night, she'll go right about 8 hours at a stretch. So her last feeding last night at 9:30p meant she was up at 5:45a this morning, which is early, but better than being up at 4a! So I kept her up for an hour and my day officially started then :)

We will probably be carving up our pumpkins today so that'll be fun! I can predict now how it'll go, they'll have fun with it at first, then I'll be sitting there, hands in the mush cleaning them all and carving them all while the boys have moved on to something else to do! It'll be fun though, always a good photo op :)

Hope you have a nice start to the week!

Set a Timer

Things were much better today :) Somedays are just like that, aren't they? This mom gig isn't the easiest job, I'd like to meet one mom who sits and reads magazines or eats bon bons all day!!!

Molly had her 2 month checkup today - all is well. Everyone has commented on how tiny she seems, how petite, "dainty" - turns out she is in the 50th percentile on her height/weight/head so she is "average." I told the doc that everyone thinks she's so tiny and he said "it's all relative," cause of how big the boys were. So true with our little bruts :) She is 11 lbs 2 oz now and I can't recall the length cause it's in my purse. All is well though and we're thankful for that.

Tonight the boys came down and wanted both Erk and I to come upstairs, and we both had to "shut our eyes." Erk went up before I did and when I finally got up there, in the boys bedroom they had laid one of their quilts (off their bed) on the floor and had me sit next to Erk. Then they took a toy and pretended like we were getting our family picture taken! How rare! Jack just had his picture taken at school so that must be where it came from. So funny. So Erk played along and had Jack "set a timer" on the "camera" and run over to sit with us for the picture. We pretended like the first time didn't take so he had to do it again. Cracked us up...

Future Firemen

I didn't get around to posting these the other day, but here are some pics from the museum!

Crab Apple

This morning was again, “one of those mornings” for me. My hormones have been all over the map since Molly was born. For the most part under control, but when the crab apple stuff comes on, it’s hard for me to hide it. That was me today… and yesterday… although yesterday I was better able to curb it. Today? Nope –

The morning consisted of Mikie whining and Jack egging on. Constant and incessant! I finally yelled at both of them to stop – and a few other words came flying out, and for a minute all was well. Then I’m hit with “Mom, I peed in my bed,” and “Mom, I want to eat breakfast right now, can’t we eat right now, I’m hungry now Mom,” and “where are our vitamins, I want my vitamin, can I have some juice, get me some juice…” Sheesh. And trying to be out the door by 8:55am (so I told myself), umm, try 9:15am before we were in the truck. We started out at 9:03am, but back in we came ‘cause Mikie had to go #2. Off we went to the children’s museum downtown – that was fun. The boys really enjoyed it and did well, they are finally at ages where they can do everything there and keep themselves entertained. I think we’d still be there now if it weren’t for lunch and naps! Come lunchtime we were ready to head to grab a bite with all our friends. To Burger King we headed and bam, the boys are climbing on things, banging into signs, dancing around, pulling on each other – I’m holding Molly’s carseat which seems to only get heavier by the minute, continually asking them to stop. I finally got to their eye level and explained to them WHY they needed to STOP. Then it’s my time to order, Jack is mad cause he doesn’t think I ordered him the right thing and Mikie keeps saying “I want chocolate milk! I want chocolate milk!” Arggggh! We sit down and with as much tension as I was feeling, my left shoulder felt like it was shredding inside (that’s where I’ve been holding my tension these days). Then Jack starts crying because Mikie apparently ate one of his nuggets. As we left, we get in the truck and wouldn’t you know, Jack has to go #2. Back in BK we head only to have them both have to “go” and neither could lock the door so I was standing outside the stalls holding both doors closed, all the while Molly is in her carseat asleep on the gross dirty floor. I was so grossed out! But there was no where else to put her! She’s sucha good baby, she did so well today you didn’t even know she was there. What a peanut – I could eat her up :) So a long story short, although I told you pretty much the whole story, I’m enjoying these few minutes to myself. Three minutes until Mol’s next bottle. Hope your morning ran smoother than mine :)

Molly in the Middle

It's so dark out it feels like the middle of the night... but I'm happy to report I wasn't up in the middle of the night last night! Molly slept thru the night! Her last feeding was at 10:15pm and we didn't hear a sound from her until around 5:36am (roughly :), but she mearly squacked, then back to sleep until 6:40a when I heard her start to really wake up. So here she sits in her bouncer next to me and both boys are still sleeping.

Jack was 6 1/2 weeks when he accomplished this task, Mikie was 9 1/2 weeks - so in that aspect, Mol falls somewhere in the middle being just over 8 weeks. It's good stuff I tell ya, I'll take it!

Here are some pics from the other night, the boys really enjoy having her in the tub with them...

The worm catcher, the nut job, and the meeting

Jack was awfully proud of the worms him and Mikie caught and put in the dump truck

When asked to get some shorts on, Mikie came down the stairs in these... the pants he wore when he was baptized when he was SIX months old!!! This kid!

Finally Molly got to meet Auntie Pat and Alison, as you can see, I think they love 'er :)

Our Rainy Day

From the moment I woke up this morning,
Bam, my attitude was there without warning.
Now, I’m still getting up one time a night,
To feed and change Molly and back to bed alright.
But the past few nights after that 4am wakeup call,
Going back to sleep til seven, I cannot fall.
So I’m tired and groggy and expected to do so much,
Right off the bat - changing sheets, clothes, bathing and such.
Today the patience just wasn’t at all there,
An underlying tension and on occasion, a mean stare.
So why in the heck did I think to venture out?
That was some kind of mistake, without a doubt.
But it’s rainy and we were all feeling cooped up.
Even with all the laundry and cleaning the kitchen - I was a busy pup.
Out to the truck I headed with the diaper bag and my purse,
But where are my keys? Guess I need to find them first.
Finally after an extensive search, I found them in the truck at last.
Pack up Molly and the boys and got outta here fast.
The first store we ran to I had an exchange to make,
A baby gift, that I won’t lie was ugly, I had to for Molly’s sake.
After feeding Molly in the truck quick before we headed in,
I had a plan of attack for the downpour of rain, but it was a no-win.
Get to the customer service counter only to find out,
“This outfit was purchased and on clearance years ago,” the woman gave me a pout.
Great, just great, as the timeline ran thru my brain.
The girl who gave it to me has a 2 year old daughter… insane?
Nope, she must have received it and thought it was ugly too,
So on to me, a re-gifted ugly gift, I took a store credit in lieu.
And I wonder why time can’t at times give me more gap,
For right at that same moment I have Mikie give me a tap,
“I have to go pee pee” all while starting to pull down his pants,
“Mikie, don’t pull them down, we’re in the middle of the store, you can’t!”
So into the restroom rush, rush, rush,
Change Mol’s pants all without a fuss.
Back out into the store and on the hunt for some costumes,
Found one for Mikie quick, but Jack “can’t find one,” he booms.
So we got Mikie’s from that store and went out again in the rain,
Honestly, by the time we were in the truck, I thought I was going insane.
On to the other store, a huge toy store at that,
Fortunately the costumes are right in front by the door mat.
We found the one Jack wanted rather quickly,
He’s pretty selective, doesn’t like anything prickly.
After a quick tour of the store back out in the rain we did go,
Loading all 3 kids in the truck and off, well hoping so…
Hoping is what I was but hope won’t buckle it for me,
The boys’ seatbelts are in this constant locking phase, it ticks us off you see.
I try to maintain my calmness while watching from the rearview mirror up front.
“Getting irritated won’t buckle it for you,” I say with a soft voiced subtle punch.
But I know from my own experience that irritation is certainly caused,
And putting the truck into drive and heading out is always paused.
Mikie just couldn’t get his so out of the truck I had to climb.
Open up Molly’s side door and hunch over her seat to be kind.
But wouldn’t you know I couldn’t get the darn seatbelt either and so I said,
“…SHIT!” as I pulled on it and with a look on my face, all while turning red,
“You shouldn’t say shit, Mom, it’s a naughty word.”
Why at times like this are the kids absurd? :)
Too funny and as I look at Mikie… I laugh,
“Yes, that is naughty Mikie,” as I let go of my wrath.
Back on the road we head and to McD’s we find.
I had a coupon and we were hungry, I knew the boys wouldn’t mind.
Rather than tackle the freaking seatbelts again,
I pull over and get out to give them the food from within.
Wouldn’t you know I couldn’t get the chocolate milk to open?
When I finally did and all without cursing, I saw it as a token.
Well that was until it splashed all over my nice khaki pants I hardly wear,
With the wind a gustin’ and wouldn’t you know, there went my hair.
Maintaining a fake squinty smile as I climbed back in the truck,
Man, those fries sure tasted good, my weight loss plans ran a muck!
Finally back home and it was time for Molly to eat,
Did I mention she was an angel while we were out, so sweet?
Feeding her and burping along the way,
But all of a sudden, she had something to say.
YACK came the formula right back up and in perpetual motion,
All over her, me, the couch like a big flow of lotion.
“Jack! Come here right away, JACK!?” I yell from the couch,
“What do you want Mom,” is the response I get from the tired grouch.
“Come down here now bud, I need you now,” I say in a tone,
“What is it you want?” he asks from up the steps in a kind of moan.
By this point I am fuming and yelling “get me a towel right now!”
What does it take to get me what I need, holy cow?!
As the boys both come to my rescue about 3 minutes too late,
The cushion on the couch, my pants and Molly’s shirt had met their fate.
Off to change her yet again while waddling from my soaked pants,
I had to laugh and shake my head at the time… the circumstance.
For today has simply been just one of those days,
But as for now I can take a deep breath and say,
“Whew!” As I sit here in my robe (all my pants are in the dryer),
All three of our beautiful God given children are sleeping, something any mom would admire. :)

Shower Me with Sanity

Ahh… a shower. What is it about a shower? Maybe it’s cause I feel I’m in a big bubble where I can’t be demanded to do something right that minute? Of course my showers don’t come without spectators – I usually have at least one. Be it Molly in her bouncy seat sitting there ever so peacefully until the end where she’ll get fussy cause I’ve “taken too long,” or Mikie rummaging thru my drawer of makeup, taking out the toothpaste or lotion asking 17 times if he can use it, or Bean dog nudging the glass shower doors with her nose, trying to join me to get a drink. Fortunately Jack has outgrown the spectator part of the shower, except for when he has a question. There is just something about that glass barrier. It’s as if I have a great excuse that surpasses all other, “I can’t get you milk and juice right now, I’m in the shower,” or “you’ll have to wait a few minutes, I’m in the shower…” Or sometimes it’s “can’t you see I’m in the shower right now!?” Any way you cut it, those few minutes in the shower are a few minutes of sanity. When my spectators start to bring popcorn, then I’ll have a problem :)

Pumpkin

Why that face, Mol? :(

That's more like it!

Fighting Fires in Those Shorts?

If you are ever in need of a laugh, look no further than Mikie. This kid… We all took naps today – it’s a beautiful thing, I tell ya, when the boys can hold off until 2ish to lay down, when Molly goes down and I can too! This happened twice this week, all 4 of us napped at the same time and I woke up around 3p to watch my soap while still lying on my bed! Then a bit after 4p, all of the kids woke up! Anywho, back to Mikie. After naps, I told the boys we’d head outside to play ‘cause it’s so nice out. I told them they could put shorts on, out goes Jack in appropriate attire, Mikie? He came down the stairs in a wife beater white tank top with his legs thru it as if it were shorts! He’s so funny. What the heck, no one can see us, so I let him keep it on. What a NUT!

They are pretending to be fire fighters :)

SOMETIMES THEY SAY THE CUTEST THINGS :)

A few from Mikie lately -

“Does Jesus like vegetables?”

“Maybe the clouds are eating their lunch right now.”

“My fingernail is not working.”

And from Jack –

“I’m going outside to risk my life!” Jack says as he opens the trailer door a few weeks back.

“The Lord made us special cause we have 2 legs,” Jack tells me as we saw a man go by in a wheelchair with one leg missing. Mikie’s response, “yeah, I have 2 crocs.”

Sweet Baby

Sweet baby blowin' bubbles :)

Out of Pocket

We had a nice day today - even with Daddy out of pocket! He went up to his old college town to visit with a buddy from back in the day. They haven't seen each other in a few years so I'm sure it was fun to catch up. The kids and I headed to Ryan's football game at noon with Nanny. We stopped at Arby's on the way and had some good eats :) Then after the game we came home and played in the leaves for a while, as you can see. Then came naptime, it was late, after 3pm which is really unusual around here! The timing worked out really well though, Molly was ready a bit before 4p so I snagged a 45 minute nap in there too while they were all out.

I think Erk just drove in the driveway! Good night!

Fall is here...

when a rake is hard to find, why not use a shovel? :)

Since we already have the seasons confused (using the shovel), why not make it like summer and fill up the ol' pool!

Crazy pup!

Free Campsite

Please pray for my Grandpa, we got word this afternoon that he had a heart attack earlier today. He is fine and recovering in the hospital for the next few days. We hope to go up and visit with him on Sunday afternoon.
Molly is upstairs in bed fussing (it’s definitely “her time of night” for this) and all else is quiet. We are all home but not all in the house. Erk and the boys are camping out in the trailer tonight! We opted to grab a bite out tonight and ran into my cousin, Dawn, at the restaurant. Always nice to see her, towards the end of the meal, she came over and had to snag Molly for a few minutes :)

I drove the car home with Molly (it was time for her to eat so I fed her quick in the backseat) and Erk drove the boys home in the truck. When I pulled in, Erk was chasing the boys around the house :) Then they all 3 came in winded and chilly cause it’s definitely turning into fall out there. Erk springs on the boys, “you wanna camp out tonight?” Jack was all about it – Mikie was on the fence, but once Jack and Daddy headed out, Mikie was soon to follow. Jack wanted to sleep in his clothes and headed straight out, I changed Mikie into jammies and he, Mol and I went out. Erk asked me to come back in to grab his book and heartburn medicine, and as I was upstairs grabbing the stuff, I came across a pair of poopy undies that had been left in the boys room. Not so cool! Earlier today Jack had made a mess in the bathroom (nothing like Mikie’s the other day – man oh man, I was TICKED at that one – had to strip Mikie down and put him in the tub if that gives you any idea of how uncool it was) which I had him clean up (why should I have to be the poop police/cleaning lady all the time?) – and anywho, he failed to mention the undies he had pooped in in his room. So there it sat all evening, Bean dog had a free snack. GROSS. But true, I can tell she had a stab at it. So… that wasn’t the greatest find, but at least I found the source of the foul smell that hit me as I went up the steps!

Ohh, Molly is quiet now! The only sound is the oven timer going off for the cookies I put in the oven for myself! Yipee skippy – have a nice evening!

The Postcard

As ya know, being a mom is really a crazy job. You have 15 balls in the air at once and sometimes all of the juggling comes right down on your head in an instant. You duck, but can’t avoid being hit repeatedly by all that you are trying to do… the amount of patience we are supposed to have - the way we handle every situation - the whole nine yards. I tell ya what though, it is comments like this or witnessing things like this that make it all so worth while. Where would we be without kids??

Mikie says to me the other morning while eating Honey Nut Cheerios, “can I have some more Mom?” “You still have some in your bowl Mikie,” I say, “you have to eat those first.” “But Mom, I don’t like it when my cereal gets foggy!”

Yesterday before naps we were all hanging out upstairs. The boys were playing in their room while I fed Molly sitting on Jack’s bed. Once Mol was all finished, I went to change her diaper in her room and came across this… Mikie had been drawing on a piece of paper that he called a “postcard.” He goes up to Jack and hands it to him saying “here Jack, I made you a postcard.” Jack takes it, and with a sentimental loving voice says “thank you so much Mike for my postcard.” He even gives Mikie a hug! RARE. So I stand there and watch as Jack tells Mike to stay in the hallway while he went into Erk’s and my room. Jack climbs up on our bed and whispers quietly to himself as if reading this scribbled on paper out loud, “Dear Jack, I’m sorry that you got an owie on your finger. I hope it gets better soon, Love Mike.” It was one of those moments that I put my hand over my heart and exhaled. It was so cute. Jack then gets up off the bed and goes about playing in his room. A bit later he has to go potty and closes the door. Mikie goes and opens the door and Jack tells him to get out, he needs some privacy. So Mikie waits patiently by the door and finally Jack comes out. I said to Jack “Mikie was just trying to give you another postcard.” “Ohh, you were Mikie, where is it?” Back into our room Jack goes with the postcard, shutting the door behind him. You have to know our house, but with it’s age, it takes some muscle to get a door to close all the way. Jack didn’t push it hard enough so it was left open a sliver. I watched as Jack once again read outloud to himself, “Dear Jack…” he paused and looked at Mikie also sitting on the bed. Mikie chimes in, “It says Happy Birthday Jack.” Jack continues “Dear Jack, Happy Birthday Jack…” Jack turns to Mikie and says, “my birthday is in July.” Mikie responds, “yeah, it says Happy Birthday Jack July.” Jack continues, “Dear Jack, Happy Birthday Jack July, Love Mikie.” :)

Daddy and Mol ready for bed the other night once we were home from our camping trip :)

Here's Mol hanging out in Mikie's bed in the trailer - perhaps next year she'll claim it and Mikie will move to a top bunk? We'll have to see!

Looks like it'll work now! Here are some more pics from the weekend camping...
