What a great weekend – as always filled with crazy things… I get to thinking that sometimes I’m just plain crazy! :) We had a great time camping as a family – by the time we got to the campground Thursday night and all filled up with water in the trailer, it was pitch black. We’ve never backed the trailer in the dark! Picture me holding little Molly in one arm, all covered in a blanket, the lantern in the other hand to direct the way so Erk could see where he was going, and my cell phone up to my ear talking to Erk directing him in. Priceless :) It was so fun though – on Friday Erk went into work for a bit so the kids and I hung out at the campsite. I attempted to teach the boys Uno, we played matchbox cars, had lunch, went down to the beach nearby and hung out til daddy got back. Yesterday we went for a little drive around the area to check it out – we hoped to grab some lunch out but couldn’t find a freaking restaurant anywhere! So we headed back to the trailer for ham sandwiches. Granny and Grampa came out to the campsite last night and that was a lotta fun. Nice to have the company! We had pot roast (Erk cooked it up!), s’mores and great apple pie (thanks again Granny).
Today I pulled the trailer home (YEAH!) and didn’t do too bad, so I thought! Driving in the city is much different than the highway I tell ya. Last time I pulled the trailer was on the highway… not today. Country roads, so things were tighter, turns had to be watched, tighter driving lanes, stop lights. It was fun though, my hope is to get well enough acquainted to pull it and park it on my own. Then we can pack up some day and head out and have Erk just meet us there. That’ll be great… I even pulled into McD’s for lunch and parked, then backed it in off our road! I needed some help (ok, a TON of help) getting it in our driveway, but I did it. Erk backed it into the spot we keep ‘er in in the sideyard though. :) I couldn’t quite get that down.
Now we are home and Mikie has a big sliver in his foot that we can’t seem to get out. All weekend we were on the boys about wearing their shoes, an uphill battle! I was on the phone tonight with the on call doc to see if there is anything more we can do about it – he’s starting to have a line on the side of his poor piggies. Looks like I’m going to have to take him in the morning to have it removed :( Wish we could have gotten it out for him.
I wanted to say that I’m thinking of you and praying for you all Shawna. I’m sure it was a tough weekend for you all with the death of Grandpa Chet.
