The boys went to bed really early tonight, as happens when they both opt to play instead of nap. I laid down today, thinking I’d take a short snooze, but I heard them dinking around so much that it was more of a resting time than nap! I’ll take it though!
Anyways, we just headed up, they cleaned up their room, put on jammies and we read a book about cowboys. Then Mikie says it…
“I don’t wanna go to bed!” as he has been saying the past few nights.
I ignore it and turn lights out, leaving the one in our bedroom on to serve as a sort of super nightlight until they doze off. I come downstairs, plop on the couch, all the while Mikie’s whining about going to bed becomes a cry. He comes to the register above where Erk is sitting down here watching tv and cries into it “I don’t wanna go to BED!” Then, seeing Erk sitting in the chair below, he quickly scampers off to bed.
Next thing we know Mikie is down the stairs squinting at the bright lights from the family room. “I have a belly ache,” he tells us. Erk starts asking him why and where it hurts. He can’t really give a definite answer and Erk gets him to admit he was making it up. Well, I offered to go up and sit for a few minutes with Mikie ‘til he got comfy in bed. So he latches on and I carry him up the dark stairs. We get in their room where Jack is still awake and he hops outta bed to go to the bathroom. Soon thereafter, Mikie tells me “I feel like I’m gonna throw up.” So we head to the bathroom quickly and Mikie waits for Jack to clear out. He then starts squirming and says “I have to pee pee first… I’ll go pee pee then throw up on my pee pee.” I had to hold back my laughter. What a nut! Sure enough he goes potty and then says, “when is my throw up gonna come out?” Umm, I’m thinking there isn’t any Mike! So back to bed we head (no puke of course) and after them trying to engage me in conversation about everything under the sun, I told ‘em it’s time for bed, no more talking. And now? It’s silent – Miss Mol is napping and the boys have given in to the crazy tired monster that is within them…
