Hot and Cold

Good evening! I am sitting here still not feeling 100%, but I’ll get there. Weird, but yesterday afternoon a terrible sore throat came on outta no where. I felt like there were knives in my freaking throat. As the day went on, I had supper with an old friend and on my way from there to pick up the kids from Granny and Grampa’s house, I had the heated seat on high and the heat on in the truck and still had goose bumps! Once we got home, I went straight to bed. My fever broke around 4am and I broke out into a full sweat. So up this morning and tossing our sheets into the washer, I felt somewhat better. Ventured out for a while to the children’s museum (which was seriously PACKED today) with Shawna and Ivan then went to get some lunch. Ohh funny side story there – so I opted to leave the kids in the truck while I ran into Subway. Let’s face it, 3 kids standing in line at Subway? Just seemed easier to crack the windows and run in. Remember when we always used to stay in the car? Molly was asleep too so I thought it would be a win win. Little did I know I’d wait in freaking Subway for like 20 minutes! I was so antsy in line worried about the kids. I come out and see Jack in the driver’s seat and Mikie in the front passenger seat (granted I had given very specific instructions, don’t get unbuckled and no talking to ANYone who may say hello). I open the truck door and can’t even say anything before I hear “sorry I peed on the seat Mommy…” HUH? Yep, Mikie had taken a leak all over the back seat. Apparently, Jack had tried to help Mikie use the milk jug we keep in the truck for such occasions, but Mikie MISSED. Umm yeah. Piss splattered ALL over the back leather seat. Lovely. I couldn’t help but snicker to myself. Ahh the joys of motherhood as I climbed over carseats to get in the back and wipe down splatters of whiz all over the place. Funny…

Anywho, once we were home, I laid down after laying Molly down for a nap and even though I was interrupted many times by the boys asking me to open up “Mac” the truck cause they couldn’t get him open or wondering if quiet time was over yet, it felt good to rest. Mikie eventually laid down and conked next to me and Mol took over 3 hours for her nap! But once up from that rest, I have started to feel puny again. I’m hot then cold… Erk got home and noticed my eyes are a bit glassy. So now I’m gonna check my business “email account” (how fun is that) and then head to bed. Ohh, Mikie just came down cause there was a “spider on his bed,” but actually it was the tiniest little start to a spider web. What a nut!

I'll try to post some pics tomorrow!

A Weekend of Memories (without photos)

Hello there all! We are home, safe and sound and with a little sunburn :) We had a great weekend up north camping, just about an hour and a half from home. The campground itself wasn't our favorite, but the weekend went way too fast! So many funny things happened (as I'm sure you know by now they always do!) and I'll attempt to recall them for ya...

Lemme start by saying I forgot my freaking camera at home! Beak! I didn't realize it until a cute photo op with Erk and Molly by the picnic table and shoot, it was home in the picnic bag I had taken to Jack's preschool picnic. Ohh well, those photo ops will just be in my head I guess :) We left soon after Jack's picnic was done. Although I packed for a pretty chilly weekend, it ended up just beautiful. Jack ran out of short sleeved shirts cause I didn't pack enough of those! What a nice problem to have.

We got up there Thursday late afternoon. Ate some burgers at the campsite and waited for our friends to get there. As I was doing dishes in the trailer, Erk's phone rang and Erk answered it there and I hear on the other end, "I'm not in a good spot..." it was Jay. And nope, he wasn't in a good spot. On the side of the expressway with a broken down VW Bus that they have poured so much time and energy into over the past 2 years to camp in. We clicked into wondering what the beak we could do for them almost an hour away. As the evening unfolded, Shawna and the "boys" came on up while Jay worked it out to get the Bus towed and back home, then unpacked the hours worth of packing it took to get the Bus ready. When Shawna got there, we set up the tent and did all we could before dark fell upon us. We all figured sleeping in the trailer until Jay got up there was the best bet, and then it turned out Jay wasn't coming up that night but would be there early in the morning. We were all so thankful he stayed home, it was getting to be a LATE night already, he would have rolled in in the wee hours of the night. Anywho, we did the couch pullout which I HOPE was comfy enough for Shawna and the boys (she says it was, but she's TOO kind) and despite a comical night of Jack and Ivan peeing their beds (Ivan's soaking Shawna's jammies too) and Molly fussing in the middle of the night cause her covers had slipped off - it was memories in the making. Despite all of the kids being up by 7am and a bowl of Lucky Charms full of milk getting knocked over, the day only got better once Jay arrived around 8a.

Working my way over to the campground showers, (for all who love to camp or even just have been camping before, you can appreciate):

complete with dead mosquitos and other bugs smooshed on the walls

sand and hair on the floors in piles

the smell of toothpaste and the great outdoors combined in that small tile "cell"

the "cold" water on the dial actually being the "hot" if you messed with it enough to figure it out

trying to find a dry spot on the floor after the shower so the bottom of you pant legs won't get wet

all mixed with smelling bacon off in the distance at someone else's campsite...

The weekend was much like all of those comical and fun things to be found in the shower cell. We had a blast and laughed our heads off - especially after the kiddos were all in their beds and us 4 adults could sit around the campfire and tell jokes, stories, talk about our upcoming digital scrapbooking printing website, and much more. We never did find a laundry mat for those whizzed on sets of sheets, NOR a pizza place Saturday night at 10:30p when we were all in the mood for some greasy food (we opted for McD's instead, well I should say Erk and Jay did, Shawna and I waited for the pizza at the campfire and were pleasantly surprised at our cheeseburgers instead). Even with the night of Molly crying for 2 hours and finally falling asleep on me at 5:30a and Jack waking me up at 6:30a wanting breakfast (he hadn't heard Mol at all in the night despite her being 2 feet from him the whole time). Mix in the domestic let's say "issues" at the campsite behind us, it was quite a show. Ohh and how can I forget, while doing dishes one morning, breaking Shawna's yellow mug she got at 6th grade graduation :( Man I felt like crap!!

We sure did have fun though, despite the broken mug - fun that can't be beat. We wish we were still there - but it is great to be home...

I Guess You Need Cashews Don't Ya?

Boy, in looking at that picture of me, I have 7 chins! Didn't realize that at the time :) Anywho, how we doing? I should be watching American Idol but it's kind of predictable and annoying for some reason. Maybe it's cause I haven't watched it as much this year and it's just aww-right dawg.

Went grocery shopping today for our weekend away camping up north. We're looking forward to it! Instead of unloading all the groceries into the house and sorting what goes in the trailer, I just backed right up to the trailer and unloaded in there. Our pantry is still pretty empty cause all the goods are in our moving pantry :)

While grocery shopping, I decided to make Cashew Chicken for dinner tonight. Erk loves it and it's easy to make. So I get home, unload and realize I FORGOT TO BUY cashews! Of all the ingredients to forget? Sheesh! So back to the store quick before heading to pick up the kids from Nanny and Papa's.

The kids had a riot at Granny and Grampa's last night to include both boys falling asleep on their respective couches. I didn't get there to pick them up until after 10p! Our "open house" or "party" or "digital scrapbooking gig," whatever you wanna call it was a HUGE success! We had so much fun. Shawna, Mom and I got to the place (Erk and Jay's company) early to set up. Erk and Jay came back to work soon thereafter with a pizza in hand that we all shared in the conference room. We got all set up and at 7pm, no one was there yet! HA! But people started to trickle in once they figured out how to get there. I didn't realize the entrance to the company was shut down completely with the construction going on so pretty much everyone (including us) were thrown off! We drove thru the grass to get into the parking lot! Sure enough though, with a few frustrated drivers, everyone made it safe and sound and all went well. Shawna and I decided to pray together before heading in to do our "bit" and the Lord provided so incredibly huge for us. I did the quick intro of our Creative Memories consultant (who as it turned out knew a bunch of the women cause she used to go to Shawna's church) and then the CM consultant did an excellent job walking all 20 women thru what the digital scrapbooking is all about. After she wrapped it up, Shawna talked about how we got started with this process of starting up a bizz and what paper/toner/and press we will be using. Then I got up and did a bit on how to use our website (even though it still isn't up quite yet) and what our prices will be. What a riot! And a huge breath of relief on the way home that our first gig was over. We have prepared, worried, thought, bit our nails (well, I have) over "May 20th" and it came and went already without a hitch. Thank you Lord for giving us such a huge gift! Thanks to all who came to support us, we appreciate it more than you know!

Well, I'd better put some receipts in the checkbook and make my list to pack for our trip. We also have Jack's preschool picnic tomorrow at lunchtime so that'll be fun. The boys and I will go to that and Miss Mol will hang out at home and help Daddy pack up the trailer (translation: take her morning nap). See ya!

Thankful and Relentless

This is me with the beautiful card I got in the mail today from "big Molly." As I went out to the mailbox and got this "elephant card," it really touched me. I told Mol via email that I wanted to tape it to my heart and carry it with me so that's what I'm doing!! :)

And our lil' lady is seriously RELENTLESS! There is no stoppin' her now...

Here she is!

Rub a dub dub!

Three crazy kids...

This is one way to work off that extra energy! At the trail :)
I wonder why they have so much energy?? :)

A girl and her dog...

Surprise and Bother

Let’s be honest, life isn’t always cheery and people aren’t always nice. They just aren’t. As much as I have debated writing about this on my blog, I figured why not? I won’t name any names, at least this person doesn’t read my blog anyways.

I have two things that really surprise and bother me about people. Flat out LYING and being RUDE. Two qualities this person posseses. I know, I need to let it go… But this happens so often and I am tired of it. So here is what got me fired up today –

This “open house” tonight that Shawna and I are holding – we are excited, we know not everyone in the world is excited about digital scrapbooking, but hey, we wanna spread the joy. I made it clear in an email out to many, many people, if this is something you are NOT interested in, simply tell me and I won’t bug you again about it. I never heard back from this person so I figured I’d invite her to the gig tonight. I’ll mention she never RSVP’d for tonight until yesterday with a “I can’t make it Tuesday nite due to a prior sports commitment.” Fine, can’t make it – no prob…

Fast forward to today at Jack’s preschool “closing program” for the 4 year olds. I will say it was nice of this person to see when it was and to come, yes it was. But when we saved her seats and she didn’t even acknowledge we were sitting there – ok, that’s the way this is going to be played. I get up during the program to video tape off to the side of the church sanctuary and look to say hello quietly, she’s balancing her checkbook. Ok, fine. I look over again to smile and at least mouth “hello,” and she looks away from me as if I’m some kind of freak that’s scary. OK.

The program wraps up and the kids get their little diplomas and out the sanctuary we head. We see her in the hallway and stop to ask, “do you wanna join us for lunch? We are just going to run to McD’s.” The response (and you had to be there for the tone, but you can imagine), “WELL if you would have asked me SOONER maybe we’d think about it! But we can’t, we already have plans. We have a standing play date on Tuesdays at 11:30a.” Ok. So we say “see ya later,” to which she responds, “ohh, you won’t see us later today, we have a day with no sports today so no games.” HUH, that’s funny…

All of this to say, and I apologize if I shouldn’t be telling you all this but it really irks me. Just constant in my face “TURD chick.” But as we pulled outta McD’s, I thought to myself and repeated the same to Erk, “the Devil is laughing so hard that this is bothering me so much. He wants to ruin my day.” And it’s true! So perhaps I’m further humoring him by sharing my little true story, but I will say to that, screw you Devil and screw you CHICK!

Dry and Crusty

I am feeling rather dry and crusty. I tried the ol’ lay down with the boys in Jack’s bed so they will nap and wouldn’t you know, I’m the ONLY one who fell asleep! They were playing quietly when I “came to” and now are continuing quiet time for a few more minutes. They are so funny. Both are exhausted today – you can see it all over their faces, but won’t give in. Oh well, early bedtime is nice too!

We had our last M2 meeting today and wouldn’t you know there were only 3 of us there! Alls we did was sit and chit chat. The boys told me afterwards that the “new boys who had never been in nursery before were bullies.” Huh. There is a new woman in our group, and it was her, Sandy and I visiting. I’ll have to get more to the bottom of that. All Jack told me was “the bigger boy hit me in the head with a toy brick.”

We went to the grocery store after M2 to get a fruit and cheese platter ordered, as well as other things for the “open house” tomorrow nite. Shawna and I are excited and things are falling into place. We met last night and discussed pricing and I just can’t tell ya how good it feels to have all of that pounded out as well as all of the other things we’ve been busy doing. FUN FUN! We are SO close to being up and running, it’s mostly in our web designers hands now and them getting the website up and running.

Well, the boys are down now and headed out to play baseball in the side yard. Hope this finds you well!

I thought I'd share another digital scrapbook page to help inspire you :)

Getting DIGI with it

Hey, it worked! I wanted to display for you what a digital scrapbook page looks like.

This is one of the first ones I created. I simply uploaded the software from Creative Memories onto my computer and then you can dink around and make your own, or in this case, I clicked and dragged my digital pictures onto a template. Shawna's and my business that we are creating (and very close to completion of our website) is to PRINT these pages. Doesn't it look like I cut and pasted the pictures on with glue and scissors? NOPE, all on my computer.

Here's Molly's first day on earth!

Great News on Bracey

Dear Family and Friends,

Today, Torrey and I spoke with the neurologist concerning Bracey’s MRI. He was able to show us the pictures and what his brain looks like. Great news is that he will not need any shunts or operations performed! That is an amazing blessing from God. The extra spinal fluid that was in his brain at birth seems to have gone away. However, the front part of Bracey’s brain is smaller than it should be. Basically, his brain is smaller than his head. He has a petite brain in a large head (words from the doctor). His brain is completely developed. He is not missing any parts of his brain; it is just not as big as it should be. This is not uncommon in babies that are considered premature. Bracey is at greater risk of developing slower mentally but not certain. We will just need to work extra hard with him when he gets old enough to begin learning. This is all excellent news for us. Knowing that Bracey will not need to have any surgery on his brain is the best news that we have received for Bracey.

We are hoping to get Bracey’s permanent button put on his G-tube next week. This should really make his feedings easier. It can be a little painful to do this so we are praying that he will continue to be the tough little fighter that we know he is.

We will let you know how it goes next week. Thanks for thinking and praying for us today. Your prayers and support are very much cherished.

In His Hands,

Torrey, Angela, & Bracey

Ernie Quote

My quote for the day:

"Just because I am still eating when you are done, it doesn't mean my food is extra."

ie: it takes me fixing all of their lunches before mine before I can think of eating. But they are finished and want to snag my food!

Mikie's Quote

"I remember everything I know." profound, isn't it?!

What Nature Intended

I have one tired baby sitting here on my lap. She's been a trooper but was woken up from her afternoon nap way early (Mikie is to blame, he right away admitted her crying was cause "I was too loud Mom"). Ohh, now she's on the floor trying to turn off the computer, the little fart!

So I thought for sure my dog was losing her marbles. She's been randomly bolting for the backyard, back hair sticking straight up, barking hysterically. She'll do it numerous times a day. Alls that's back there is our neighbors (who don't wave and aren't friendly to us anymore cause of Bean, we swear) and nature. What the heck is she doing? It happened when Dad was here, then when Shawna came over. "She's wacko," I summed it up in my mind. Factor in that she destroyed 3 kennels, and it makes ya wonder! She ain't a pup anymore... Well, tonight Erk is out finishing up the mulch with the boys and he comes in and tells me "doesn't help Bean that a turkey keeps cackling in the backyard." Ahh ha!

I'll give this one to her, although I still think she "hasn't seen the ball since the kickoff."

I Wonder Why

Here I am at 4:30am, I can’t sleep! My mind won’t shut off. Do you ever have that? It probably doesn’t help that yesterday seemed like a whirlwind of crap to take care of like:

Having to get Bean food asap yesterday morning cause she was starving.

Filling up the truck and having the pump shut off at 100.00 (which we just did less than a week ago before we pulled the trailer).

We are switching insurance agents to save some moola and great guy, but he’s asking me stuff like “what’s your deductible?” “Do you have escrow?” and I’d swear he was speaking Japanese.

Molly eating anything she comes across on the ground, be it grass, rocks, dust bunnies, old cereal that’s under her seat, the rug, you name it.

Mikie throwing a fit cause Jack is egging him on, and I mean a FIT, the little fart (at least every 15 minutes).

Jack egging Mikie on.

I called on a few houses for sale so those numbers were bouncing around my head.

Our truck windshield is cracked so I had to find a place to replace it.

Having to order more propane.

Going for a walk with the kids on the trail where I tried to jog to try out the ol’ leg and found later in the evening that it wasn’t such a good idea.

Mulch was delivered and the boys wanted so bad to help spread it so we did some while Molly was napping, but that only lasted a few minutes when they lost interest and a big spider was crawling over the top!

Mikie coming in the house right as we are packing to leave for Granny’s with a grin… saying “I peed in your shoes!” No he didn’t… Yep, he did. He peed in both of Jack’s “crocs” so we had to search high and low for other shoes for Jack to wear out the door.

Going to buy a mattress for the trailer (ours is paper thin) – we had stopped by two mattress places the night before and decided which one we wanted so I called and asked for the salesman. “He won’t be in until Thursday, what can I do for you,” the woman asks. I tell her we want to order the “Laurel short queen” and she says, “what’s that, your name is Kristine?”

Forgetting (and I can’t possibly think of why) to stop at the vet to pick up the tranquilizer they ordered up for Bean for road trips.

Getting to the bottom of how we order paper for our new business and sounding like an idiot in emails to the paper mill cause I really don’t know quite yet what I’m talking about.

Meeting Shawna for hot chocolate to talk business, and now I have 300 things running thru my head as far as that’s concerned!

So here I am, at 4:30 in the morning :) I hope you are sleeping peacefully and that today brings less craziness and some peace!

Chilly but Incredible

We are home and headed to bed shortly! A few early mornings were had, but wonderful time as a family. Erk was able to rig up a neato gate system to keep Molly in a bunk in the back of the trailer so all 3 kids “shared a room.” Jack slept on a top bunk, while Mol and Mikie both took bottom bunks. It was fun and so cute to go in at night to check them all, sleeping so sound all in a tiny little area! Three cute kids there I tell ya!

We had an incredible campsite this weekend, although chilly, it was beautiful… a perfect spot. The boys had fun, Mol got acquainted with camping and we just really enjoyed each other. Nanny and Papa came out Saturday night to join us for supper which was great. Sure made for a nice weekend.

We got up and headed home pretty early this morning knowing it was forecasted to rain anyways. Plus we were going to Granny and Grampa’s house to visit with them and Uncle Jon and Aunt Nemi from out of town. We really enjoyed their company and had a great meal. We took off from there to pick up Bean dog, we kenneled her this weekend. Perhaps for the last time?? I’ll explain below –

I forgot to tell you that last Tuesday I had a note from Jack’s teacher to give her a call. I called her cell and she told me Jack had a “rough morning.” She said he was talking really loudly (the ear issues are making him talk loud without knowing it) and that he had a run-in with Jonathan. I said, “ohh, did Jack call Jonathan a name?” She said, “no, they literally ran into each other, Jack hit his knee on Jonathan’s cheek.” Everyone was ok, but some tears were shed. Later in the morning, she tells me, Jack decided to drop his DRAWERS on the playground and take leak. Umm, yeah… Holy cow was I embarrassed! Something these boys do at home, but in public? Sheesh! Jack and I had a conversation about it later and he knew that wasn’t a good idea. It’s so hard not to laugh at it thru the embarrassment!

Back to Bean dog… here was the deal with that. We pull into the kennel and Erk and Jack go in. I waited in the truck with Molly who was wanting out of her carseat and Mikie who had fallen asleep on the way home from Granny’s. Erk and Jack took forever in the kennel, I was really beginning to wonder what the heck was goin on?! Finally they come out and Erk is shaking his head in disbelief. The guy who works there (who is a definite ‘boob looker’ waved as he closed the door). Come to find out Bean dog wrecked not one, not two, but THREE of their kennels!! Umm yeah. She totally gummed up their fencing, we aren’t sure how, but tore holes thru it. My kid pisses in the schoolyard and my dog destroys kennels, what a proud MOM! HA! Gee whiz. The ‘B L’ was gracious about it, but man oh man do we feel terrible! Bean just wigs out and doesn’t know what to do to handle herself. It’s her personality, she just can’t handle confined areas. Poor pup. So our next step is getting a tranquilizer (you may think I’m kidding) and shoot her up and take her camping with us…

I hope you enjoy our pix from the weekend and that you had a good one. Happy Mother’s Day to all you mommas!
Mol ready to camp...

Who needs a campsite when it's this much fun to play in the water while Daddy fills up the tanks?
