Mikie's B-day Weekend

Good evening! How we doin? The house is all quiet, even Erk went to bed already. Here I sit digging thru notes and emails, trying to piece some things together. I imagine this will be how many nights go once the website is up and running. I think I should mention though that I got a nap in today (Erk said 2 naps, not true… 1 nap, the other time I just laid on the couch in the trailer with my eyes closed while Molly was napping :) so I’m not overly tired at the moment.

The weekend away camping was another fun one. Celebrating Mikie’s birthday out there was a hoot. We didn’t get to picking Erk up from work until more like 3pm on Friday (plan was 2pm) cause the morning didn’t quite go as I thought it would. Papa came and got the boys and took ‘em fishing and to play at their house while Mol and I ran some errands and I packed up the trailer. While packing it up, Molly was banging on the screen door with 3 steps leading out of the trailer and just as I said “careful Mol,” she whapped that door one more time and it burst open, sending her hitting her head on each step as I watched in terror and couldn’t do a thing! I screamed her name and grabbed her up as fast as I could. She was inconsolable for nearly ½ hour and it really shook her (and I) up. Her little eye instantly got red, then later you could see the swollen bridge of her nose. Man, I felt terrible! All of that to say, that slowed the packing process and I couldn’t get that vision out of my mind…

Once we picked Erk up, we headed to the “gated community” campground which was nice, but the sites were a little small if ya ask me and there were no fire pits. To me, I like a fire pit! But once you mix the weather we had in, I suppose we wouldn’t have sat outside all that much anyways. Friday nite we did make it to the pool after Mikie opened his presents. All and all, he said he “felt special” on his birthday, which is the question that I ask that’s most important on those days :)

Saturday was pretty rainy all day. We went to see WallE (we thought it was really cute, the boys loved it too). We intended to go to the morning showing but couldn’t find the darn movie theater! By the time we did, it was 10 minutes after the start time. So we opted to look around at the outlet mall and then went to Pizza Hut for lunch. As the kids and I darted out of Pizza Hut for the truck in the rain (Erk was inside paying), I’m buckling Molly and Jack gets in the truck and proceeds to puke between the seats. He said he had something stuck in his throat (the gag reflex on this kid!). So I got to clean that up and with no trash bins anywhere, got to hold the clean up tools on my lap til we got to the theater. Then we hurry into the theater (don’t wanna be too late again) and I have to pee so bad but so does everyone else. So I head for the ladies room with Molly and do the one hand unbuckle the capri’s, one hand tp on the seat, one hand everything else! But we made it, and the kids loved the movie (I ended up standing with Mol in the back of the theater for most of the movie cause she was saying “hi!” to the people behind us the whole time!

From there we headed back to the campground and soon thereafter Nanny and Papa and Granny and Grampa got there. We opened Mikie’s presents from them and headed to the restaurant. But which place were we headed? One car was at one place, and the other was headed to another! HA! We got to the same place and shared some laughs over the whole thing and enjoyed our supper out (worked out well since the weather was crappy anyways). We then got back to the campground and went to sit by the pool as the boys swam for a bit before bed.

Today we hung around the campsite, the boys rode bikes with some new friends they made and we packed up and headed for home. What a nice weekend away – always nice to get away and not think about all the other things that hang overhead when you’re at home! Now that we’re back, here I sit going thru all that stuff! HA! Nahh, it’ll be nice to get this week started. Looking forward to Wednesday night and our “party/open house” we are hosting again at Erk and Jay’s workplace to introduce people to the world of digital scrapbooking and how it ties into our business. We hope to host these types of things every few months!? Speaking of that, anyone who reads my blog and is interested, shoot me an email. Even if you came before and maybe want to learn more.
