Good afternoon,
I hope all of your weeks are going well. I have such amazing news and I wanted to share it with you all because I know that you all have been praying specifically for this and would love to hear about it.
On this past Monday, Bracey saw his speech therapist. She helps with swallowing issues. She gave me lots of ideas of how to get Bracey to try to drink from a bottle. While we were there, he ate from a spoon with out any difficulty. He is a pro at eating off the spoon. After a couple of days of trying different types of bottles, thickness of formula, temperature of formula, etc., I finally found what Bracey likes. It was so amazing! The first try, he drank 3 ounces of formula, and I only had to hook him up to the pump for the last 1 ½ ounces. This was yesterday afternoon. Then for dinner, he took his entire 4 ½ ounces by bottle, and right before bed he fell asleep eating about 3 ounces by bottle. This was all just yesterday. Torrey and I were so amazed at what our little guy did. He didn’t show any signs of distress at all. Today he has also taken every feed by bottle! The speech therapist can not believe this! She says this hardly ever happens. Bracey has not had a bottle in over 5 months. He should not have taken it so easily. I was very emotional the first couple of times of feeding him. I had forgotten what a tremendous feeling it was to actually get to feed my baby. To have him looking up at you and feeling that connection to you is the best feeling ever. I know that this is all God’s doing. This baby should not remember how to bottle feed after months of not experiencing it. God allowed Bracey to take a bottle like he has always had one. He is allowing Torrey and me to experience a different kind of bond with him, one that I had longed for.
I thank you so much for praying for this specific need which has surely been answered. I know that Bracey can always have set backs as he has in the past, but with your constant prayers I know that Bracey can continue to grow and bottle feed. He is an amazing little boy which I thank God everyday He lets me have him.
In His Hands,
Torrey, Angela, and Bracey
