Exhaustion has set in...

The exhaustion of school has finally set in with Jack… This morning he was in all but a straight jacket over every little issue! He completely freaked out over Mikie wanting to watch Toy Story. Jack thinks that movie is way scary (he loves Toy Story 2, but not one) and absolutely was inconsolable about the whole thing. My first reaction was to bite his head off, but then realizing what I was dealing with (exhaustion) I took a step back and new approach. I thought we had worked it all out (I offered to “skip” the scary parts of the movie) but Jack stormed off saying I wasn’t doing what he wanted. FINE. So I went up to lay Molly down for a morning nap (she’s been up at 6:30a so she’s been pretty pooped mid-morning) and sat down and chatted some more with Jack. I thought we had broken thru again, but he was yanked and decided to take the option of playing outside. Fine by me! Soon thereafter, he comes in freaking out cause he had to go to the bathroom but would have to walk by the family room and possibly hear a scary part of the movie! I told him it wasn’t scary and he walked in and heard something, tears off into the bathroom and yells, “YOU LIED TO ME!” Gee whiz. And where is the handbook on tired school kids?! We met a compromise and Mommy finally put in Winnie the Pooh’s Alphabet movie. No scary parts, no arguments – just learning about the freaking ABC’s!

I bought a laptop yesterday and I’m so excited! With our business venture and the bizz we are in, it’s been a known thing that I’d get one. Shawna and I talk about it often and would love “company money” to pay for it, but for now we’ll pay outta pocket if need be. So I went and get this, it’s RED! I love it, what a cool thing. Not sure how it works, but it’s pretty :) Anywho, Molly and I walk outta Office Max (went while both boys were in school) and I say outloud while carrying Molly and pushing the cart, “YEAH Mommy! I got a laptop!” and Mol looks at me and gives the biggest grin and starts CLAPPING. It was too cute. My thoughts exactly Mol :)

Molly and I then went to lunch at Target and got Jack some shirts for school (his pictures are tomorrow and the poor kid doesn’t really have any nice shirts – he’s growing so fast!) – then we went and got Mikie. We visited with Nanny and Papa for a bit, then came home to wait for Jack to get off the bus. We then headed out shortly thereafter to Taco Bell where we met Erk. Erk took Mol and Mikie with him and Jack and I had supper with Shawna and Chet and then planned to go paint mugs together. Unfortunately the art place was closed (but we set it up to go this weekend instead) and on our way home, Jack and I stopped for ice cream. It was FREEZING outside so it made us chilled to the bone to share that hot fudge sundae. That one on one time was great though, I am trying to think of something to do with just Pickle. Erk said something about taking Mikie overnight somewhere this weekend just the 2 of them – since Jack got to go to Don’s cabin with him last weekend. Either way, when ya can get that alone time with the kids, it’s precious :)

Have a great Thursday! Off to mess with my new laptop!

Prayer Requests:For my friend who is looking to have her step-son live with them permanently (the poor kid's mom is on life support and the family has decided to remove her from it).
My Mom for continued healing.
